Persistent Smog in Lahore; City Ranks Second in Global Pollution List

Smog in Lahore:LAHORE (Dunya News) – On Sunday morning, the provincial capital of Punjab, Lahore, continued to grapple with persistent smog, securing its position as the second-most polluted city globally.

The air quality index (AQI) for Lahore registered at 320 in the morning, while Karachi followed closely with an AQI of 244.

Smog in Lahore:Notably, smog, characterized by a combination of smoke and fog, had seen a significant reduction when the caretaker Punjab government implemented a decisive measure by imposing a smart lockdown on 10 districts of Punjab late last month.

However, despite these efforts, the city remains shrouded in haze. Medical professionals have strongly recommended the use of face masks as respiratory issues have surged due to the inhalation of polluted air.

The situation underscores the ongoing challenges posed by environmental factors in urban areas.
